Sea blue adds a bit of mystery and magic to a room. I like this range of the lighter sky blue, beside dark jewel toned blues, and tried to emphasize the contrasts by adding a lot texture and layers to these patterns. They are available as home decor, wallpaper, and fabric on Spoonflower.

This is a selection of my dark green wallpapers for bathrooms. Dark green gives a bathroom a nice quiet vibe, that calming feeling you get from being surrounded by nature.

I am working on developing a sketchbook habit. I have started two books. One Etchr brand, with heavy paper, that I am using for botanical sketches, and one lighter weight spiral bound Bee Paper brand, that I want to use for experimenting with decorative shapes and patterns. Consistency has been difficult, but I think I am just trying to figure out what kind of process works for me.

Purple is the perfect color to create a moody sensuous bedroom. Combine lighter and darker purple in various patterns to create variety for the eye while avoiding a big blob of purple. The walls can be a soft gray, or go with a dark plum to really draw it all together. The purple bedding look above is my patterned duvet in a textured geometric diamonds pattern, with sheets with a hand stamped pattern of purple waves, and my geometric moon cycle pattern on the shams.

This dark magenta pink wallpaper would look great in a bedroom or any place you want a warm and cozy feeling with just a little bit of passion behind it.

Terracotta and rust red are vibrant and happy colors. Reds are great for the kitchen or living room, where you want to be social and relaxed. Terracotta and brick can be used as a pop of color on wallpaper or home decor to add to an otherwise warm and neutral space, or combine with greens and yellows to get an ecclectic boho look. Choose dynamic patterns to add interest to monochromatic hues.

I started Carolyn Friedlander’s Bow pattern nearly a year ago. I started by selecting my fabrics, and tea dying a selection of gray and white fabrics for the background.

Since then I have been working to get the bows basted into place.

Blue is classic bedroom color, I could fall asleep just looking at this room. Sea blue and indigo are my favorite to pair with grays, I know a lot of people go for primaries but I love the sunny Mediterranean feel of this shade.

Here is a selection of green maximalist wallpapers from my collections. Green is my favorite color. I live in the Pacific Northwest and mostly consider green a neutral, but these patterns are pretty bold, so maybe not.

Trying to focus on some floral patterns this year, so this month I spent a little time just playing with paints, getting a feel for the shapes, and trying out some different colors and mediums. I also drew a lot of finches to create a pattern for Spoonflower’s 2025 collaboration with Pantone.
