Sage green and blue are easy companions, mother nature knew as much when she paired the green tree tops with blue sky. Consider adding warm browns and neutrals to round it out.

For this sketchbook session I used a series of anemone photos as references. I wanted to try to capture the different positions of the bloom in relation to the viewer. I had initially intended on darkening the background, but when i finished the shadows, I ultimately decided I liked the high contrast and kept the lighter pink in the background, matching the petals colors

Soft pastel orange, apricot orange, combines really well with a soft pastel blue, or a darker, slightly neutral gray blue. These colors evoke the feeling of a quiet sunrise. Combine happy yellow with sage green for a welcoming spring time vibe in your bedroom.

The yellow and green look above is my patterned duvet in a modern sage green textured geometric, with white sheets with a pattern of pale yellow moons, and a bright yellow parquet pattern on the shams. Stick with various shades of green and yellow, or ground these colors by adding rusty browns, and terracottas to the mix.

Green is an excellent color for the bathroom. It gives an instantly fresh feeling. My grandmother had a green bathroom, with green sinks, walls, tubs, and accessories. I loved it. I think she would approve of this selection of green maximalist wallpapers for your bathroom.

Continuing with my new sketchbook habit, with a few tweaks. I have narrowed back down to one book at a time for this kind of experimenting, the Etchr brand with heavy paper. I’ve learned that as much as I want to paint fast, each layer does take some time, so I’ve given myself space for that - instead of requiring that I finish in the 45 minute block, I can sketch throughout the week and paint throughout the weekend as I have time. This has been nice, it has brought me back to painting more regularly which was a goal.

Oooh pretty pink. When using pink in your home it brings in a lot of energy, like red, but quieter. Pair it with neutrals if you want the pink to take center stage or add some greens and yellows to offset things a bit. Layering multiple shades is also a nice way to bring pink in, without overwhelming the room. In this collection I’ve paired pink with magenta, and dark burgundy, and I and tried to emphasize the contrasts by adding a lot texture and layers to these patterns. They are available as home decor, wallpaper, and fabric on Spoonflower.

I forgot to take in progress pics for this one! Been playing with a slightly different palette of paints and combining tube watercolors with the Derwent Inktense pencils. Unlike watercolor pencils, there is no wax in these, and they are slightly opaque, which gives some really interesting opportunities for layering with watercolors.
